Noble County Enumerations of White Males over Age 21
1871, 1877 & 1883

This index was prepared from three sets of 13 separate township books on file in the Noble County Library. The names in the books were entered loosely by alpha letter, but not in sequence within the alphabet. There were a few instances where, for example, a "J" name was listed in the "G" section. When recognized, current day spelling of the surname was used. The individual is listed by name, followed by his age and the number of the township in which he was enumerated.

These enumerations were conducted to apportion senators and representatives for the Indiana General Assembly. While the Act of 1865 specified these were to be enumerations of white males, these records for Noble County mention a few "colored" men. See surnames Anderson, Beck, Freeman, Henderson, Iler, and Wilson.
